The fire was reported around 8:30 p.m. Thursday.

Firefighters say they’re still probing a suspicious fire that damaged two porta potties at the Parksville Community Park on Thursday evening.

Parksville Assistant Fire Chief Steven Liedl says fire crews were called to the park around 8:30 p.m. for a report of a fire.

When crews arrived, they quickly found two porta potties were burning near the park’s playground.

No other structures were damaged in the fire, according to Liedl.

“It was a fairly fast attack to put the fire out, it took around 10 minutes to fully put out and extinguish,” he said.

Eight firefighters and two trucks responded to the blaze.

No obvious source of the fire has been discovered yet, but Liedl says the fire department is working with RCMP to determine the cause.
