A felled tree that went onto some power lines caused outages on the West Shore Tuesday afternoon and into the night.

The tree was being cut at a property on Glen Lake Road across from Belmont School.

BC Hydro said initially more than 3,000 customers were without power in Langford, Colwood, Metchosin and Sooke.

Now there are 611 customers without power in an area north of Tayberry Terrace, east of the Westshore Parkway, west of Flannagan Place and south of the Langford Parkway.
