Vancouver Aquarium’s newest octopus in residence is now officially known as Ceph Rogen.
The 8-armed creature is named in honour of Vancouver-born actor, comedian, writer and director Seth Rogen.
The 36-year-old star of such films as Knocked Up, Superbad and Pineapple Express took to social media to show his appreciation.

Voters had a choice between two finalists but it was no contest in the end. Ceph took 90% of the votes to just 10% for Octavia. Semi-finalists included Luna and Houdini. There were no quarter-finals/round of 8.
The fact that Rogen himself did a little campaigning on social media certainly didn’t hurt his chances.
Please vote for me to have an octopus named after me at the aquarium I grew up going to. https://t.co/3axHKAryjo

Now the Vancouver Aquarium is trying to arrange a meeting between Seth and Ceph.
It really happened. @SethRogen, meet Ceph Rogen.
