Family members say authorities have told them the remains of two people found near Ucluelet earlier this month are those of missing men Dan Archbald and Ryan Daley.

The news was confirmed to CHEK Thursday night by Ryan Daley’s sister, Lauren Glynn. Glynn said her family is now heading out west to be together and figure out their next steps.

The remains of the two were found the week of June 10 by a woman walking her dog. Police did not specify exactly where the remains were found or the exact date the remains were discovered. RCMP have also not yet confirmed the identities of the two bodies that were found.

Ryan Daley,43, and Daniel Archbald,37, went missing on May 16.  Police said they had been on Archbald’s sailboat, the Astral Blue, that docked in Ucluelet on May 13, 2018. They were reported missing to police after they failed to contact family and friends.

The pair had been on an eight-week sailing trip in Panama before they went missing. A surveillance video recorded on the morning of May 16 shows Archbald walking toward the parking lot from the Small Craft Harbour dock with a large duffel bag, followed by his friend Daley. It’s believed to be the last time the pair were seen.

The pair’s disappearance was considered suspicious by police.
