BC Hydro says a hydro pole was snapped in half and power lines were down for several hundred metres.
The incident knocked out power to nearly 500 BC Hydro customers in the area.
The outage is one of many on Vancouver Island, where late Friday night, BC Hydro reported more than eight-thousand customers without power.
