
Strong winds toppled a large tree that came down across Pritchard Road in Comox and knocked out power to hundreds in the area.
Shortly before 6 p.m. Friday night, the tree came down, prompting BC Hydro and Comox Fire crews to responded to the scene near Knight Road.

BC Hydro says a hydro pole was snapped in half and power lines were down for several hundred metres.
The incident knocked out power to nearly 500 BC Hydro customers in the area.
The outage is one of many on Vancouver Island, where late Friday night, BC Hydro reported more than eight-thousand customers without power.
