Extinction Rebellion protests gather outside the Times Colonist building on Douglas Street in Victoria on Nov. 13, 2019.

Extinction Rebellion activists protested outside the Times Colonist building Wednesday, criticizing the newspaper’s climate coverage.

The protest was smaller than expected, with about 30 people on the sidewalk. The group did not disrupt traffic.

Wednesday’s protest started at 3:30 p.m. and wrapped up around 5:30 p.m.

Extinction Rebellion — the same group that shut down the traffic at the Johnson Street Bridge last month — says the newspaper doesn’t treat the climate crisis seriously. However, the paper stands by its coverage.

Extinction Rebellion is a global environmental movement with the stated aim of using nonviolent civil disobedience to compel government action against climate change.
