“A cold front crossed southern B.C. overnight. In the wake of this front, strong westerly winds developed early this morning. The strongest winds are expected near the Strait of Georgia. These winds will persist through the afternoon and ease tonight,” reads the statement from Environment Canada.

The weather agency is also cautioning residents on the Southern Gulf Islands to be aware of small loose objects being tossed or tree branches breaking as a result of the wind.

At this time, BC Ferries hasn’t cancelled any sailings across to the mainland as a result of the wind.
