Employees at multiple home improvement stores on Vancouver Island have tested positive for the novel coronavirus, according to their employer.

Lowe’s Canada, in a series of information bulletins posted on their website, says employees working at their Victoria, Langford, Nanaimo and Cobble Hill locations have tested positive for COVID-19 in recent days.

“We take each confirmed case of COVID-19 infection among our associates extremely seriously. To ensure the health and safety of our associates and customers, we rigorously apply public health authorities’ recommendations and guidelines,” the company said in a statement on its website.

Lowe’s is the parent company of Rona and does not disclose when their employees tested positive but instead discloses when they were informed of the positive test.

“Associates identified as having been in close contact with the infected associate are put on preventive paid quarantine at home. We also communicate with our customers to inform them of the situation and let them know of action taken in response to it,” the company says on its website.
