The Capital Regional District said Thursday morning an advisory remains in effect at Elk Lake in Saanich for positive tests of toxic blue-green algae.
In an advisory, the CRD is asking people to avoid the water and keep animals on a leash until the advisory is lifted.

The CRD says water samples taken from Eagle Beach at Elk Lake tested positive for the type of blue-green algae that produces harmful cyanotoxins.
The CRD did lift a similar advisory Thursday morning for neighbouring Beaver Lake, with sample tests showing negative results for blue-green algae.
