The Easter Bunny is known for its quick egg delivery, but this year it is “zooming” to a new platform due to COVID-19.

The Westshore Town Centre is offering virtual visits with the holiday character through the use of Zoom, an online video chat service.

Kelly McClure, marketing manager at the shopping centre, said this is the backup plan for the holiday events, as the onsite activities were cancelled due to the pandemic.

“We didn’t want to cancel Easter entirely as our customers and their kids look very forward to their annual meet-and-greets with the popular rabbit.  ‘Plan B’ allows for a high-touch, no physical contact solution that promises to still be a lot of fun,” said McClure.

The free, virtual five-minute sessions are being offered from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. on April 9, 10 and 11.

Those wishing to have a little one-on-one time with the Easter Bunny will need to sign up with a free zoom account and can book appointments on the Centre’s website. Demand is high and most available spots are taken, but keep your eye out for cancellations.

On top of the virtual meet and greets, the centre also offers Easter-themed colouring sheets that can be downloaded from the website, and craft videos utilizing items often found at home.
