Victoria Police have arrested a man and seized drugs, knives, firearms and ammunition on Friday morning as part of a drug trafficking investigation.
At about 12:30 a.m., police say they attended the 700-block of Queens Avenue and located a suspect, who was part of the investigation.
The man, upon spotting the officers, attempted to flee on a bicycle. The officer began to chase on foot and eventually caught up with the suspect, arresting him in the 2300-block of Government Street.
Police then searched the man and found evidence of drug trafficking, including methamphetamine and fentanyl, according to the report.
They also found two firearms, a .38 calibre revolver and a 9mm rifle with ammunition.
The suspect is prohibited from possessing weapons of any kind, police said, as he is the subject of an undertaking with conditions.
VicPD added he is also in breach of a court-ordered curfew for previous offences.
The suspect faces recommended charges of unauthorized possession of a firearm, breach of an undertaking and obstructing a police officer.
The suspect is in jail where he is being held to await court.
The drug trafficking investigation is still ongoing.
