A driver was sent to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries after their vehicle plunged hundreds of feet down an embankment along the Malahat Highway on Sunday, RCMP say.
Shawnigan Lake RCMP responded to the single-vehicle crash near Split Rock Lookout at around 7:35 p.m., Cpl. Alex Bérubé, a spokesperson for BC RCMP, told CHEK News.
“The vehicle left the roadway and went 200 – 300 feet (61 to 91 metres) down an embankment,” according to Bérubé in a statement.
“The driver and lone occupant was taken to hospital with injuries that have been described as non-life threatening.”
A police investigation is ongoing to determine the cause of the crash, although Bérubé says nothing suggests the driver was impaired.
