There were no injuries following a collision between two vehicles in Saanich early Monday morning after one of the drivers went through a red light.

Saanich Police Sgt. Jereme Leslie said a Dodge Caravan travelling east on Saanich Road failed to stop at the red and hit a Toyota Highlander, which was going through the green light south on Blanshard Street.

The collision happened around 4:20 a.m. near Uptown Mall and two of the three southbound lanes on Blanshard was closed while crews cleaned up debris from the road.

Saanich fire crews also responded to the crash, which saw one of the vehicle’s airbag deployed.

Police say a ticket has been issued to the driver of the Caravan.

The intersection was clear about an hour after the mishap.
