Saanich PD and VicPD found over $5000 in cash and suspected drugs after arresting a driver for dangerous driving.
Officers received a 911 call for dangerous driving Sunday, according to police. They say the driver fled from police when they attempted to stop the vehicle.
Police say after the driver fled, another 911 call was received after the car crashed nearby. They say the driver was then seen running into the Gorge Waterway afterwards.
VicPD officers came to assist in finding the driver along with police service dog Koa who found the driver hiding in a nearby residence, according to Saanich PD.
Police say the driver was found with over $5000 in cash and what they believed to be drugs. They say the driver also appeared to be impaired by a drug and was on bail.
The driver was arrested for five separate criminal allegations, according to Saanich Police.
We have a driver in custody all thanks to a call from the public and assistance from @vicpdcanada and @ics_k9. We were first alerted to dangerous driving by a 911 caller and when our unit attempted to stop the vehicle, the driver fled… pic.twitter.com/fSvyjNL5rD
