Dr. Henry to provide BC COVID-19 update early Monday afternoon

Provincial health officer Dr. Bonnie Henry and Health Minister Adrian Dix will give British Columbians a COVID-19 update Monday afternoon.

Coming off the Easter long weekend, provincial health officer Dr. Bonnie Henry and Health Minister Adrian Dix will get back to routine and provide British Columbians with a COVID-19 update early Monday afternoon.

The announcement is scheduled for 1:30 pm PT, with a live stream available on CHEK’s Facebook page and YouTube channel.

The update from provincial health officials will come 48 hours after their previous announcement, taking a day of rest on Easter Sunday.

In their most recent public address on April 11, Dr. Henry and Minister Dix revealed  the total case count in British Columbia had reached 1,445 with the death toll sitting at 58.

As far as Vancouver Island goes, no new cases were revealed during the latest update on Saturday, keeping the total of confirmed cases at 84.

Elsewhere, there are 642 cases in Vancouver Coastal Health, 558 in Fraser Health, 135 in Interior Health and 26 in Northern Health. A total of 905 people have recovered from the virus while 134 people are in hospital because of the virus, including 63 people in ICU.

In addition to the numbers, during Dr. Henry’s address on Saturday, BC’s top doctor suggested that it didn’t seem necessary for increased enforcement or further lockdown measures at this time.
