Provincial health officer Dr. Bonnie Henry is partaking in a social media takeover on Tuesday in order to spread more information about COVID-19 to a unique audience.

British Columbia’s top doctor is taking over the accounts of Hollywood actress Olivia Munn. Munn has graced the big screen in several blockbuster hits including The Predator, X-Men: Apocalypse, and Ocean’s 8.

The goal of Dr. Henry’s takeover is to use Munn’s platform to inform a larger, international audience about the current global pandemic as part of a new initiative from ONE World Campaign called #PassTheMic.

“There are some people you need to hear from right now and it isn’t me,” Munn said in a video to her followers.

Dr. Henry has already been part of several takeover posts, incorporating videos, photos and quotes.

She also can be seen in Munn’s Instagram stories answering specific questions on the virus.

“We need to learn and take the best from each other and each of our pandemic experiences,” Henry said in a video. “Rich or poor, we need to support each other so no one is left behind.”

Munn currently boasts over 2.5 million followers on Instagram alone and can be followed at @oliviamunn.

Dr. Henry will also be making appearances on the Hollywood star’s Twitter account.

“We’re all in the same storm, but we are not all in the same boat,” Dr. Henry said in an earlier post.

Expect several more social media posts from British Columbia’s provincial health officer throughout the day, with new eyes and ears getting exposure to the words from Dr. Henry.

One can only imagine this will lead to some growth of her fandom with people beyond British Columbia’s borders.
