Dozzi breaks 42-year-old high school record in thrilling finish

CHEK

Over the weekend Oak Bay High School captured its 12th BC Track title in 16 years.

Gr. 12 student Tyler Dozzi shattered the 42-year-old 3000m Provincial record by over 5 seconds, running in a time of 8:16.22.

However, Dozzi did not set the new record. In a final sprint to the finish, Charlie Dannatt of Handsworth Secondary finished .28 seconds faster than Dozzi with a time of 8:15.93.

The two elite distance runners will be joining the UBC Track team next season.
