Residents in the District of Tofino can forget about watering their lawns anytime soon.

The District of Tofino announced Friday that it has moved to Stage 2 watering restrictions until further notice.

As a result, outdoor watering of lawns, gardens, trees and landscaped areas will no longer be allowed except for the watering of food plants by hand-held hose with an automatic shut-off mechanism or hand-held canister.

Residents with odd-numbered addresses will only be allowed food plants on Mondays and Thursdays between the hours of 6-9 a.m. and 7-10 p.m. while even-numbered addresses will only be able to water on Tuesdays and Fridays between 6-9 a.m. and 7-10 p.m.

The district says all other outdoor use of water is prohibited, including filling or refilling of hot tubs, except to the minimum extent to remove salt water and provide basic hygienic cleaning.
