One person is in hospital and an investigation is underway following a Monday morning collision involving a driver and a cyclist, Saanich Police say.

In a news release, police say the collision happened at 9:08 a.m. in the area of Richmond and Cedar Hill Cross roads, where a vehicle with a trailer and a bicycle collided.

According to police, the cyclist was taken hospital following the crash. However, they say the extent of their injuries is unknown at this time.

At 10:45 a.m., D/Sgt. Damian Kowalewich said Saanich Police officers were still on scene investigating. He said commuters in the area should expect delays.

Video sent to CHEK News shows a section of Cedar Hill blocked off to traffic.

“Our main priority was to get all parties involved medical attention. Presently, we are asking for the public to be patient while we fully investigate what happened at the scene. Expect delays in that area for several hours,” added Kowalewich.
