Cyclist in hospital with life-threatening injuries after Victoria crash

One woman is in hospital with life-threatening injuries after a collision in Victoria on Aug. 1. 

Police say a Victoria woman is in hospital with life-threatening injuries after she crashed at the intersection of Esquimalt and Harbour Roads.

Victoria police were called to the intersection for a report of a motor vehicle incident involving a cyclist just before 6 p.m. According to police, when officers arrived, they discovered the cyclist had crashed at a high speed.

Several people in the area at the time helped the cyclist and provided first aid until an ambulance got the scene. The cyclist remains in hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Members of the collision reconstruction team went to the scene to investigate. During the investigation, one lane on the Johnson Street Bridge was closed for several hours.

The investigation is still ongoing but police say there are no indications that another vehicle was involved in the crash.
