A motor home was destroyed in a fire near CFB Comox on Wednesday evening.

It started around 7 p.m. on Military Row and the vehicle was quickly engulfed in flames.

Fire crews from Comox responded and requested mutual aid from the nearby 19 Wing Comox military fire department

Together they were able to prevent the fire from spreading any further.

“It’s always a concern at this time of year with the extreme heat that we’ve had and the dry conditions that things are going to spread from the initial fire,” said Assistant Chief Rick Shelton of the Comox Fire Department.

“Luckily where this one was situated it wasn’t right under the trees.”

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
