The Capital Regional District has released more details about a water main break in Langford on Tuesday evening, and says it expects water will be restored to affected homes by Wednesday morning

The CRD says the water distribution main break at the corner of Goldstream Avenue and Strathmore Road has caused flooding and several homes in the area are currently without water.

“The affected water main is an eight inch water distribution pipe, resulting in no water service for 11 homes and one condo building in the area.”

The CRD adds that once water service is restored, a boil water advisory will be in place for residents in the affected areas.

“The advisory will be removed when Island Heath is satisfied that the drinking water does not pose a health concern and issues an ‘ALL CLEAR’ notice at which time the impacted customers will be notified.”

During the water advisory household tap water may be disinfected by boiling it vigorously for one minute.

The CRD also says road conditions are anticipated to be back to normal for the morning commute on Wednesday
