Traffic backed up on Highway 14 at Kangaroo Road, looking east, at around 3 p.m.
Sooke Road reopened at Impala Road before 4:30 p.m. after it was closed for over an hour following a collision.
The two-vehicle crash was reported before 2:30 p.m. Drive BC and Metchosin Fire Chief Stephanie Dunlop confirmed Highway 14/Sooke Road was closed at Impala Road at around 3 p.m.
At 4 p.m., Dunlop said Sooke Road would be reopened within 30 minutes. The road did reopen before 4:30 p.m. with Mainroad staying at the site to ensure all the diesel at the crash site was cleared.
Drivers were being rerouted through Kangaroo Road and Gillespie Road during the cleanup.
No injuries were reported in the crash.
