Vancouver Island’s health authority is warning the public about potential exposure to the coronavirus at a restaurant in the Comox Valley.

Island Health issued an alert Aug. 23 warning the public about a possible COVID-19 exposure at Il Falcone Restaurant in downtown Courtenay. The restaurant is located at 536 6th Street in Courtenay.

Anyone who was at the restaurant on Aug. 16 between 3 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. is being asked to monitor themselves for symptoms.

Island Health says those who remain healthy and do not develop symptoms, do not need to self-isolate and can continue with daily life as usual.

However, anyone who does develop symptoms of COVID-19 should seek testing and self-isolate.

Island Health says there is no known risk to anyone who was at the restaurant outside of the Aug. 16 timeframe and considers the possible exposure event to be “low” risk.
