Island Health on Tuesday declared COVID-19 outbreaks at three long-term care facilities in the Greater Victoria region.
The facilities are Veterans Memorial Lodge long-term care home in Saanich, Sunset Lodge long-term care home in Esquimalt and the Sidney Care Home long-term care home in Sidney.
The health authority says they have implemented comprehensive strategies to prevent and respond to COVID-19 in long-term care, acute care, assisted living and licensed care facilities and will be supporting all of the declared sites.
Island Health on Tuesday also declared outbreaks at Selkirk Seniors Village long-term care home and assisted living facility in Victoria over.
Details on the new outbreaks are below.
Veterans Memorial Lodge long-term care home (Saanich)
The health authority says four resident cases have been identified related to this outbreak. They say the outbreak is limited to units B3 and A2 at this time.
Veterans Memorial Lodge is located on Chatterton Way in Saanich. It is owned and operated by Broadmead Care Society.
Sunset Lodge long-term care home (Esquimalt)
Island Health has declared an outbreak at Sunset Lodge after 11 residents tested positive for the virus.
The health authority says the outbreak is currently limited to the third floor of the facility.
Sunset Lodge is located on Arm Street, on the border of Victoria. It is owned and operated by Salvation Army.
Sidney Care Home long-term care home (Sidney)
According to Island Health, one resident at the Sidney Care Home tested positive for the virus.
The Sidney Care Home is a one-storey building located on Fifth Street in Sidney. It is owned and operated by The Care Group.
