A COVID-19 outbreak has been declared at the Amica Douglas House long-term care home in Victoria, according to Island Health.

Two staff members at the care home have tested positive for the disease and so far, no residents are experiencing symptoms, Island Health said in a news release Tuesday.

The outbreak is contained to the second floor and the health authority said it is communicating with residents, family and staff.

As Amica Douglas House works with Island Health to determine if anyone else may have been exposed to the coronavirus, several measures are being implemented at the site to keep staff and residents safe.

No admissions or transfers will be permitted to the second floor, and visitation is being limited to essential visits only. Staff movement has also been limited and the home is temporarily putting a halt to congregate dining and other group activities.

The home will continue twice-a-day screening of all staff and residents and undertake COVID-19 testing as directed.
