School officials in Parksville say staff and students at École Oceanside Elementary School may have been exposed to a confirmed COVID-19 case last week.
School District 69 said it learned of the exposure on Tuesday, with the actual exposure taking place Thursday, Feb. 25 and Friday, Feb. 26.
Contact tracing has begun and to find anyone who may need to self-isolate or monitor themselves for COVID-19 symptoms. Tracing was expected to be completed by the end of the day Tuesday, and those who attend the school were to receive an update.
Anyone who hasn’t received a phone call from health officials can keep attending school.
Island Health defines an exposure as “the presence of lab-confirmed COVID-19 case(s) in the school” during the period when a person is infectious.
