
Island Health is reporting a COVID-19 exposure that took place at Oak Bay High earlier this week.
The health authority sent home a notification to parents and guardians that “a member of your school community has tested positive” for the virus. It is not clear if the person is a student or staff member at the high school.
The exposure occurred Tuesday, March 30.

The person is isolating and Island Health says it is completing contact tracing to identify any staff or students who may need to self-isolate for 14 days, or monitor for symptoms.
Anyone who doesn’t receive a phone call or letter is urged to continue to monitor for COVID-19 symptoms and seek testing if they begin.
Symptoms of COVID-19 include:
- Fever or chills
- Cough
- Loss of sense of smell or taste
- Difficulty breathing
- Sore throat
- Loss of appetite
- Extreme fatigue or tiredness
- Headache
- Body aches
- Nausea or vomiting
- Diarrhea
