A cougar will be relocated after being spotted and tranquilized in Saanich Monday.

Saanich police received a report of a mountain lion in a Gordon Head neighborhood. B.C. conservation officers attended and worked alongside Saanich police and Saanich’s pound officer to capture the cougar.

The news comes just a day after officials received multiple reports of a cougar making its way through the Gordon Head area and near Old West Saanich Road.

Officials are reminding residents that the change to warmer weather may mean an increase in wildlife sightings in residential areas.
