Comox Valley Search and Rescue have rescued a stranded swimmer at Stotan Falls.

The swimmer, a 25-year-old man from Nanaimo, became trapped on a rock in the middle of the fast moving water Wednesday afternoon. Rescue crews went into the water and were able to reach the swimmer.

Authorities said the man was swept off a ledge in the river and wnet approximately 25 feet (7.7 metres) before he was able to get up on a rock. He sustained some minor injuries, including some bumps and bruises.

This rescue comes almost one week after four tubers were rescued from the Puntledge River. On July 5, four people, including a young girl, were going down the river on tubes near the end of Willemar Avenue when they ran into an overhanging tree and fell off the inflatables.

Two of the tubers managed to make it to shore but a man and a child had to be helped to shore. No one was injured during the rescue.
