A Vancouver Island resort is being recognized as the top hotel in British Columbia.

Royston’s Kingfisher Oceanside Resort & Spa was named “Hotel of the Year” at the 2023 BC Hotel Association Awards, which was held on May 2 in Kelowna. A trio of Victoria hotels, including Oswego Hotel, The Parkside Hotel & Spa and Robin Hood Inn & Suites, were also recognized in the category alongside Versante Hotel in Richmond.

B.C.’s Minister of Tourism, Arts, Culture and Sport Lana Popham attended the ceremony, presented the awards and “gave a powerful speech on the resilience and strength of the hospitality sector,” reads a press release.

Trina White, general manager at Parkside, was named “Hotelier of the Year,” while Oswego’s Sarah Webb was one of several other notable managers mentioned. Pink Yu, director of operations at Robin Hood Inn, scored the “Leader of the Future” award as Richard Benson, executive chef at the Kingfisher, was recognized in the “Heart of Hospitality” category.
