Officers with the Comox Valley RCMP are continuing to search for John Wesley Edwards, a man who went missing just over one year ago.

Edwards, also referred to as ‘Wes,’ was last seen in Courtenay on March 20, 2020.

Police say that he was 45 years old at the time of his disappearance.

RCMP officers say it is unusual for Edwards to go a long period of time without communicating with his family or friends. They also say Edwards is known to travel to Alberta and may have made his way out there before he stopped communicating with friends and family.

Wes is being described by police as a man that stands 5’9” tall, weighs approximately 145 pounds and has blonde/grey hair and blue eyes.

“The disappearance of Wes is still being actively investigated,” said Cpl. Matt Holst, Comox Valley RCMP Major Crime Unit. “Anything you know, no matter how insignificant it might seem, could be the information that will lead to answers for his friends and family” he added.

The circumstances as to why Wes disappeared are still unclear to police.

“We do not have any evidence to indicate he was heading somewhere, something happened to him, or he simply decided to leave and doesn’t want to be found,” Cst. Monika Terragni told CHEK News amid the investigation.

Anyone who has seen Edwards, or knows where he is, is being asked to call the Comox Valley RCMP at (250) 338-1321.
