Comox Valley RCMP arrest impaired woman after hit and run of cyclists and pedestrian

A woman has been arrested after she is alleged to have hit two cyclists and a pedestrian with her vehicle and then leaving the scene.

On July 9, just before 10:40 a.m., Comox Valley RCMP received a call that a driver of a blue and white truck had struck two cyclists and a pedestrian then left the scene.

One of the cyclists was airlifted to hospital for serious but non-life-threatening injuries, and the other two were treated at the scene.

The three people who were hit were on Headquarters Road near the entrance to the Comox Valley Exhibition grounds.

While officers were at the scene of the collision, someone else called 911 to report a vehicle in a ditch on Headquarters Road at Bridges Road.

When police arrived at the scene, they determined it was the same vechile and a 53-year-old woman was walking away from the vehicle.

She displayed signs of impairment and was arrested for impaired driving and failing to remain at the scene of a collision.
