Cold weather prompts opening of overnight centres for another night

The City of Victoria and Cool Aid Soceity will operate centres for people to get out of the cold overnight.

Temperatures on the Island are forecast to be low overnight, so Victoria and Campbell River will be opening warming centres.

The City of Victoria will be operating a warming centre at the Salvation Army at 525 Johnson Street from 8 p.m. to 8 a.m.

Cool Aid Society will also open an overnight shelter at Rock Bay Landing at 535 Ellice Street from 9 p.m. to 8 a.m. People are advised to phone ahead to reserve a mat at 250-383-1951.

Campbell River will also be operating a warming centre at the Community Centre at 401-11th Avenue from 10 p.m. to 7 a.m.
