A closure on Mount Douglas Saturday afternoon was due to a non-suspicious death, according to police.

Saanich police say they responded around 3:30 p.m. to reports of the death, and closed off access to the main road for the investigation.

It remained closed for several hours, and hikers were turned away.

Emergency crews left the scene in the evening.

Officials say there is no threat to the public, and that no-one should be alarmed.

No additional details are being released by police.
