The City of Victoria is now looking for bidders on its multi-million dollar Bay Street Bridge rehabilitation project.

The city is asking companies to submit bids to carry out repairs to the 61-year-old bridge, which is also known as the Point Ellice Bridge. The work will include rebuilding the deck and repairing corroded steel structures.

The work is estimated to cost more than $2 million and the city would like to have the work completed by the end of November this year.

The city says it wants contractors to organize their work to minimize the impact on transit and commuter traffic, but warns there may be significant tie-ups in traffic.
