Oceanside RCMP say a woman was found dead in the grassy median along Inland Island Highway near the Alberni Highway interchange yesterday morning.

“Officers are continuing to investigate the circumstances around the woman’s death, however, early indications are she was the victim of a hit and run,” the release said.

However, a spokesperson with the Central Vancouver Island Traffic Services told CHEK Saturday that the woman was wearing dark clothing and appeared to have been struck and killed by a vehicle that did not remain on scene.

Anyone who may have information about the whereabouts of this vehicle and the driver or may have been a witness to the incident to call the Const. Pelat at CVITS at 250-954-2952 and cite file 2020-430.
