A brewing company from Chemainus took home international awards as the world’s top hops were recognized at a global beer competition.
Riot Brewing claimed a gold and bronze award at the 2018 World Beer Cup, considered the “Olympics of Beer”, in Nashville, Tennessee, May 3.
Riot Brewery took top honours for its Working Class Hero Dark Mild in the English-Style Dark Mild Ale category and won a bronze in the Coffee Beer category with its Breakfast of Champions Coffee Lager.
Winners were selected from an international panel of 295 judges from 33 countries.
“We’re absolutely stoked – speaking politely – to win gold for our Working Class Hero Dark Mild, and bronze for our Breakfast of Champions Coffee Lager, the result of some serious hard work from our incredible team,” Riot Brewing owner Aly Tomlin said.
“B.C.’s beer scene is growing and we’re proud to be part of the success of our industry, especially on an international scale.”
Riot Brewing started operations in November 2016 and sell their products throughout B.C.
It is the only Vancouver Island brewery to win at the 2018 World Beer Cup and the lone Canadian business to collect two awards.
