This year is a special one at CHEK as we celebrate 10 years as an independent, employee-owned station and we are welcoming back someone you might recognize.

Scott Fee, a former 5’o clock anchor at CHEK, will be returning as CHEK’s news director, a behind-the-scenes role at the station.

“It’s really surreal,” Fee said.

“I never would have guessed in a million years that this opportunity would even be available and I would be in a position to come here and be a part of it all over again.”

Fee was at the station back in 2009 when CHEK became an employee-owned company. He is now leaving his job as 6 and 11 o’clock anchor at Global Calgary to come back to CHEK. It will be his first job in decades that won’t be in front of the camera.

“I’m really looking forward to seeing the team again, the gang again, so many people that I have so many great connections with, strong relationships with, that are at the station still and then I get a chance to meet a whole new group of people that are the future of the station,” Fee said.

The news director position became available after long-time news director Rob Germain moved into the role of general manager last fall. Fee’s arrival corresponds with other upcoming changes, including new graphics, music and a website.

Fee will officially start on March 18.
