A Victoria photographer and his client teamed up to create a spooky portrayal of B.C.’s top doctor. Colin Smith recently offered Halloween photoshoots by donation, and Heather Eichel decided to dress up as Bonnie Henry.

“I wanted to say thanks so much to Bonnie Henry some way,” says Eichel. “I’m a dental hygienist, I have asthma and Dr. Henry has done a great job keeping all of us safe,” adds Eichel.

The inspiration for the shoot came from Smith’s previous experience working with Dr. Henry. When it came time to take Heather’s photos, she knew exactly what she wanted.

“She said she wanted to relive that photo [shoot] and do it just like Bonnie Henry did it,” says Smith.

The zombie Bonnie Henry shoot included stops at the legislature and even a little shopping spree downtown at one of Dr. Bonnie’s go-to spots, John Fleuvog Shoes.

Most importantly for Eichel, the shoot was a great excuse to pay homage and relax.

“It was just a way to have some fun during COVID, I thought it was a great way to say thanks,” says Eichel.
