CHEK Media is set to roll out two new programs this Sunday night.

This Is VANCOLOUR and DownieLive Travels by Train will air back to back starting at 7 pm.

DownieLive Travels by Train features YouTuber Michael Downie, who has spent the last five years documenting his travels around the world to millions of viewers while turning his channel into a business.

“I became a YouTuber knowing I wanted to make this a career and so I was very strategic about finding a way to get through all the time,” says Downie.

“There have been a lot of times where I’ve wanted to quit, but I just couldn’t imagine doing anything else that I get to do whatever I want.”

His latest adventure was born out of the pandemic. Downie was in search of a way to explore Canada and found it on the rails, plotting a 10 week cross-country train trip.

“I thought this was the perfect time to travel across Canada and find what makes Canada unique and amazing along the way,” says Downie.

“There’s a lot of people that contribute in different ways across Canada and I’ve been really lucky over the last 10 weeks to meet them.”

DownieLive Travels by Train will debut alongside another new show This is VANCOLOUR featuring political pundit Mo Amir, who is bringing his already successful podcast to T.V.

“The podcast has really been a look at politics and culture through an emotional lens and you get some really emotional moments but it’s been all audio so far,” says Amir.

“Being able to showcase that on CHEK on television, I think it’s going to be huge and I think that’s just the next natural progression.”

Both shows will also be available via the CHEK + app.
