For the second consecutive year the Canada 200 from Westshore Motorsports Park will be broadcast live on CHEK.

“The partnership with CHEK has just been growing and growing over the past number of years,” says track general manager Daryl Crocker.

“CHEK and Westshore Motorsports Park, it’s a pretty tight-knit thing we have going on right now and we’re super thankful for it,” adds Crocker.

Last year’s event was a race to remember with chaotic crashes and an amazing finish that saw Brandon Carlson win his first Canada 200. This year’s race is already shaping up to be the biggest in recent memory, with 30 drivers entered.

“It’s always exciting when you have that many cars on the track,” says racer Kyle Cottam, who will be competing in his second Canada 200.

“I mean it’s an elite class of racing, there’s super talented guys running in this class and just a ton of competition,” adds Cottam.

“This is what I grew up watching, my dad raced Late Models and [NASCAR] Winston West and stuff like that,” says Brandon French, also making his second Canada 200 start. “There’s a lot of good drivers out there and hopefully we can run up front with them.”

This weekend will also have added meaning with fans being allowed back in attendance after the event was held with empty grandstands last year.

“Last year was really neat doing it for the first time [on T.V.] but this year having the atmosphere with the fans is just going to be that much better,” says Crocker.

“We’re allowed a full crew, we’re allowed full fans and it just makes it more exciting and you get to see everybody at the track again,” says French.

The Canada 200 weekend festivities kick off with a race car parade through the streets of Langford Saturday, Sept. 4 at 10 a.m.

CHEK’s coverage will begin Sunday, Sept. 5 at 6 p.m. The broadcast will also be available on Facebook, YouTube, and the new CHEK + app.
