This past weekend would have marked the opening race for the Western Speedway’s late model division.
Unfortunately, because of COVID-19, racing, like most other live sporting events have been cancelled.
But the Langford oval has come up with a unique way to provide racing excitement and give back to the community.
The speedway will follow in the footsteps of Nascar and IndyCar by holding its own iRacing Series, featuring simulated races with actual Western Speedway drivers and cars that look like real the ones.
Nascar drivers Ty Majeski, Derek Kraus, and Jason White will also be joining the event, which is also a fundraising initiative for the Goldstream Food Bank Society.
Race takes place tonight at 7 p.m. and can be watched live at iwesternspeedway.com, which is also where donations can be made.
