The mystery into what caused a loud noise heard by many people in parts of Victoria on Sunday night has been solved.
Victoria International Airport officials say the loud noise that was heard at around 6 p.m. was a CF-18 flying from Boise, Idaho to Victoria. The noise was reported in Victoria, Saanich and Oak Bay.
The CF-18 was on a planned Instruments Flight Rules flight and quickly descended to 5,000 feet before it made a scheduled landing at the Victoria airport.
Anyone else just hear what sounded like a jetliner flying low, right over Victoria and Oak Bay? #yyj

Yes! What was that? It was very low and very jet. Heard it clearly at Cadboro Bay & Estevan at about 5:55.
