WATCH: Both the men’s and women’s Canadian rugby sevens squads will have an opportunity to finish on the podium on Sunday at the Paris Sevens in France.

On the women’s side, the Canadians took on the U.S. in the Cup Quarterfinal, and thanks to a last-minute try from Bianca Farella, the Canadians avenged their loss to the Americans in Langford with a big 26-24 win.

However, the ladies in red and white were defeated by the powerhouse New Zealand black ferns, meaning Canada will play for bronze tomorrow against France.

The men kicked off their tournament early this morning, and thanks to a huge effort from Justin Douglas, the men’s squad also has a chance to finish in the top-3 after the first day of action.

Canada defeated Russia 33-7 in their opening match, and handed Scotland by a score of 26-14, setting them up for a meeting with the all-mighty South Africans in their third and final game of the day, and the Canadians were simply overmatched. Canada will play in the Cup Quarterfinal tomorrow against Ireland.
