Campbell River RCMP say man out on bail following drug trafficking charges caught with drugs again

A 34-year-old man who was out on bail after he was charged for possession of drugs for the purpose of trafficking was arrested again on Tuesday.

Police said Lucas Oday from Campbell River was arrested for trafficking and possession of drugs for the purpose of trafficking. Officers from the Campbell River RCMP Street Crimes Unit had been conducting an investigation into drug trafficking in the downtown area of Campbell River, Fentanyl, meth, cocaine, cash and a vehicle were seized from Oday be police.

Police said Oday was out on bail at the time on charge for possession of drugs for the purpose of trafficking. He had been arrested back in January 2018 during another investigation. At that time, cocaine, cash, weapons and an SUV were seized by police.

Oday is back in custody and is facing three new charges of possession of drugs for the purpose of trafficking. His next court appearance is set for Thursday.

“Those who traffic illicit drugs are a focus and a priority of Campbell River RCMP. Drug enforcement is a key component in our crime reduction strategy,” Insp. Jeff Preston, the officer in charge of the Campbell River Detachment said in a statement. “We are committed to charging these people to the fullest extent to keep our homes and community safe.”
