Police are asking anyone with information to come forward after an aerosol, believed to be pepper spray, was released at an indoor public pool in Campbell River.

Police and fire crews were dispatched to the Strathcona Gardens pool on Wednesday, Sept. 14 around 8 p.m. after the substance went airborne, according to Campbell River RCMP.

“The pool was evacuated and it was ensured it was safe before people returned to the building,” police said in a social media post following the incident.

RCMP say officers are reviewing video footage to ID those responsible and ask anyone with information to reach out at 250-286-6221.

“Police and (the) fire department would like to thank the public for their patience and cooperation during the emergency shutdown,” RCMP added.
