Hill said 16 firefighters were at the fire with seven apparatus. The fire was around an acre to an acre-and-a-half in size

The cause of the fire is under investigation, but Hill said weather has been ruled out, indicating it was a human-caused fire.

Firefighters were able to leave the area at around 9 p.m.

“Conditions are extremely dry, especially under the tree canopies where the rain doesn’t usually soak into the ground as it is,’ Hill said.

“We are in high danger rating now and it is extremely tinder dry. The ground is crunchy with no moisture. Crews were digging three feet deep into the duff layer with no moisture.
