Belmont JV Football sees their groundbreaking season come to an end in Provincial Final

WATCH: It was a statement of a season for the Belmont Bulldogs junior varsity football team, but the Cinderella story came to an end on Saturday night as the Bulldogs were defeated by the Kelowna Owls 38-12 in the Subway Bowl, the Provincial Championship game.

The turning point of the game came late in the second quarter with Belmont leading 12-7, when their star quarterback and defensive back Hunter Bowles was chased out of the pocket, and under pressure threw an interception and was injured on the play.

Kelowna would go on to score on the next possession and Bowles, while attempting to make a comeback in the second half, was forced to watch on for the remainder of the game.

The second half belonged to Kelowna, and they went on to win the game 38-12. Despite the loss, the Bulldogs football program has never been to a Provincial title game, and the JV squad will be back next year to try and avenge their Subway Bowl loss.
