Cowichan Valley Capitals defenceman Simon Chen took a long and unconventional route to the BCHL.

He was one of the few kids in Beijing who took an interest in hockey, and now, with the sport growing in China, Chen is aiming to represent his country in the 2022 Olympic Games.
